Our Future Meets The Past
On Saturday, March 1, 2025, the Ottawa West & Nepean Lions Club was thrilled to host a groundbreaking event at The Ottawa Perley Health Centre, bringing together Air Cadets from the 211 Royal Canadian Air Cadet Squadron and veterans resident at Perley Health for a wonderful luncheon and social gathering. We had great conversation where cadets, aged between 12 and 18 years of age, learned of the past and vets aging over 103 years old learned of the new. We socialized over food and drink, entertainment by Terry McCann, singing and dancing, and memories of good times. Thank you to the 211 Air Cadet Squadron who were instrumental in assisting our vets to and from their rooms, getting meals and helping out in any way possible. To quote Perley Staff, "Everyone left with a smile."

A big thank you to Anna from the Canadian Bankers Association for a wonderful presentation on financial literacy for seniors. We discussed topics from the importance of having a power of attorney, the pros and cons of joint bank accounts, to trusted individuals and danger signs to look out for. This was then followed by a very lively discussion and question and answer session by participants. Much was learned by all!
